The #1 Guide If You Are Going Through Tough Times
The #1 Guide If you are going through tough times
Do you want to know the difference between people who succeed and the people who don’t? It’s how they handle difficult situations. I bet if you are here, you need some pick-me up at the moment. Don’t worry, just continue reading, I will tell you what to do and how you will get through this, so you will feel much better 10 minutes from now.
Do you struggle with thoughts: Is what I’m doing actually matters? Am I wasting my time with this? Will my dreams ever come true? What if I fail? What if I ruin everything with a decision?
Recently, I’ve been dealing with a lot of doubt. I’ve started a 10-week business coaching course, which has just ended. I was so into getting quick results and finally starting my business but seemingly, all the odds were against me. I met obstacles in my mind and life. Everything was delayed or didn’t work well. When you do things and nothing seems to work, that’s very infuriating. Depressing.
Especially if you’ve been trying to get your life on track for years. Everybody else seems to live their perfect lives and there’s you. You are still struggling. Still not having the results you desire. Still have financial issues. Still not even sure what you want. Still in the place of despair. Still doubting yourself when others seem to be so driven and passionate. It seems like success and happiness is for everybody else but you.
It’s annoying. I had these feelings in the past few months. Let me tell you something...sometimes the most difficult, annoying, and hopeless thing you have to deal with...is your mind. Your annoying thoughts. And if you’ve dealt with a lot of failures sometimes you might think that you are just not good enough and you will never succeed or get what you desire.
When the current situation separates you from most of the people you love and could get love from. When your plans are ruined. Sometimes life feels too much. Too much to handle.
The good news is, you are just having a couple of hard days or years on Earth. And to be honest, I’m 100% sure that they’ve been people, who coped with a way more difficult situation and they prevailed. They made things happen. The solutions are there for you, too. They were just as human as you are and they weren’t special. It is their mental toughness that kept them going.
It’s how they handled stress. It’s how they pushed through discomfort. It’s how they prioritized the important things.
So let me guide you through it. They are things that will actually change your life and mood when you lack motivation. You were meant for greatness. I know it because you haven’t give up, yet, and you are here.
1.DON’T QUIT
Have you heard this quote before? ‘Winners are just losers, who haven’t given up’
I think there’s a lot of truth to this quote. As long as you keep going, no matter how hard it is, you are moving forward. The difficulties won’t last forever. It’s like trying to hike while carrying a heavy backpack. It sucks at the beginning but slowly and surely, you get stronger. At the end, when you take off the bag you will be able to run up the hill because you’ve become that much more powerful.
As I can see, this is what’s happened to most successful people. They had a very difficult period in their lives. They were broke and seemed hopeless. Nothing seemed to work for them, until they became as strong that they could move forward no matter what. Then the difficulties got smaller and their growth was exponential.
As long as you keep things going. Even if you only do things imperfectly and sometimes you cannot perform your best, that matters. I’ve read an amazing book ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear. In the book it says when it comes to working out people think that if they have a bad day at the gym it’s better to skip. And however, it can be useful when you are over-exhausted and really need rest, those workouts, when you don’t feel your best matter the most in terms of your habits and results.
What you do on your bad and even worst days is what defines you. It’s easy to perform when everything is fine. Successful people do the things that other people find too difficult to do. That is what differentiates them from the crowd. That is what makes them great.
2. Focus on WHY you are doing things
I’ve started reading the book ‘Start with WHY’ by Simon Sinek. Honestly, most high achievers talk about that one of the most important things is to focus on your core motivation.
If you want to really get to the emotional core of your why, as yourself 7 times why you want the thing you want. I’ve just started reading ‘Millionaire Success Habits’ by Dear Graziosi and he mentioned this technique. Go 7 layers deep. So for example, when you want to start your business, you ask yourself why you want it. When you have your answer as yourself why you want that. And then ask yourself 5 more times.
Feeling motivated is an emotion. If you want to keep yourself motivated you have to be able to tap into your emotional drive every time you feel low.
There’s another level to this topic and I’ve realized this recently. Whatever you do, if you want to minimize doubt and guilt, know why you are doing the smallest things in your life. Don’t just go to bed and wake up every day. Know WHY you want to go to bed early and wake up early every day. Know WHY you want to eat healthy.
Put intention in EVERYTHING you do. Whatever you do, you have to know that it actually drives you forward not backward.
3.Take ownership
After you’ve mastered your why, take control of the things that you can and let go of the things that you can’t control. Losers try to control the things that they can’t and forget or refuse to control the things that they can.
What you can control: YOU. Your attitude, your mindset, your principles, your reactions. You have to work on yourself on a daily basis.
What you can’t control: everything else. People, circumstances, results, how things will happen, etc…
Think about how you can change to change your circumstances.
4.Fill your mind with positive things
Your mind can be your worst enemy. Especially if it’s filled with limiting beliefs and negative thoughts. Your mind needs nutrition just like your body. Don’t expect a strong mindset without hard work. You reap what you put in. You plant seeds and they will grow. Pay attention to what you plant in your mind. Pay attention to your inner language.
Listening to motivational videos, positive affirmations, or just learning more about what you want to do can be a total game changer when you are in a difficult situation emotionally.
5.Nourish your body and mind
Nourishing your body and mind means giving it the highest quality foods. Fresh fruits and veggies. Smoothies. Supplements. All of these can affect your thinking in a positive way.
Get more intentional about your food intake. Are you trying to numb your emotions with unhealthy foods or are you willing to take control of your life and mental health with the right nutrition? Actually, when everything feels out of control, controlling your diet can be one of the easiest areas to conquer.
Get more Omega-3s, dopamine boosting foods, lots of vitamins and minerals. I would also recommend you taking a high quality spore-based probiotic that can totally change your gut flora for the better.
6.Acknowledge that it’s difficult
In my experience, way too often you put extra pressure on yourself by not acknowledging that you are dealing with something very difficult and shaming yourself that you should do better.
That kind of guilt can consume your energy and a lot of mental space. You are not perfect. You might have made better choices in the past but you cannot go back. Focus on what you can do today. You can have a better future. You cannot fix the past.
Yes, it’s difficult. But if you don’t do anything about it it will get even more difficult later. Cry or rest but do not stop. Keep going. As long as you keep going, you’ll be okay.
7.Write down what you need to change to feel better
This is something I had to remind myself recently. People always complain about what they don’t want but when they are asked what THEY WANT, often they don’t know what to say. It’s very easy to sink in the thoughts and emotions that are related to the current uncomfortable situation but don’t let them take over your life.
Write down what you want. Visualize it on a daily basis. Take actions towards your goals every day. Small steps. Baby steps. And you will be amazed where you will get after a year if you practice this.
OK, so let’s recap. When you are dealing with difficult situations and periods in your life, it’s very important not to quit, take control of what you can and let go of what you can’t control, focus on your why, live intentionally, fill your mind and body with the right things, acknowledge that you are dealing with something hard, and write down what you want in the future.
P.S.: If you want to take your mindset and life to the next level, I have a FREE workshop coming up, soon, make sure to register for the event here.
